I’m not a scientist. I’m a regular Joe.
And because I’m not a scientist, I’m told that I can’t understand science, and therefore, I can’t really participate in a debate on the merits of the Theory of Evolution.
I’m told this because I’m supposed to believe that my inferior brain can’t handle the facts, so I should just blindly accept that Evolution is fact.
We’ve all been told this our entire lives. Why? Because Evolution is the ultimate proof that there is no God, and so, it HAS to be true. So, we can’t have anybody thinking for themselves on the subject, because we must protect the integrity of the theory FACT.
When someone does come up with something that Evolution can’t explain, we’ll call it a hoax, we’ll call it a bluff, we’ll call it radical conspiracy theories, we’ll drown it out with our own ideas and theories until it’s never heard from again.
And those that defend Evolution blindly can never be deterred. If someone makes a claim that doesn’t track with Evolution, sources are immediately demanded. When a source is provided, and it is a source that commonly confronts Evolution, it’s a biased or crackpot source. If fact, we’re taught unless there is “Scientific Consensus,” then it’s not true.
What is “Scientific Consensus”? It’s a big impressive term that makes it sound like the majority of scientists in America have all done independent study work and all reached the exact same conclusion after countless tests. In actuality, it’s just a poll within the scientific community, often without any regard to scientific field or area of expertise. There is no such thing as a true “Scientific Consensus” because “Consensus” just means an agreed upon idea, not proof that the idea is a fact.
So, why do they use these terms and fight this aggressively? After all, isn’t science about studying things from all angles and testing all theories? Wouldn’t our ultimate goal be to challenge accepted thought and discover things for ourselves?
Nearly every other avenue of science is free to grow as findings accumulate. But there is a caveat. For any scientific finding to be deemed “Accurate,” “Acceptable,” or ever “Scientific” at all, it must build upon Evolution, not detract from it.
But, even more distressing (and even downright frightening) is that Evolution is promoted at all cost, even if that means manipulating facts, suppressing conflicting findings, and sometimes, out-and-out lying.
For instance, there is one thing that we’ve probably all seen in textbooks that was, at best, terribly misleading.
You may recall the “Peppered Moths,” a study done on moths in different shades of gray.
Basically, the study said that these moths would sit on the trunks of trees and get eaten by birds. The study was done in an area where trees had been blackened by air pollution, and the study showed that more dark peppered moths survived than light ones, due to being able to hide better on the blackened tree trunks.
Now, this is used as a basic explanation of Natural Selection, Survival of the Fittest, and it is presented as a basis for Evolution. No one has any problem with the idea of Natural Selection. It makes logical sense.
The problem is, this doesn’t prove that molecules-to-man evolution can occur, as in change from one species to another.
But, still, this is not the issue. The issue is that we’ve all seen those photos in our textbooks of peppered moths sitting on the tree trunks, but it’s been discovered that these moths don’t do that. They hide on the underside of branches and under leaves, meaning that most moths would be hidden in the shadows anyway, and therefore would survive regardless of color.
It’s come to light that many of these experiments were faked, or at least manipulated until the desired results were achieved. And some of the photos we’ve seen in textbooks are actually set ups, dead moths glued onto trees.
People would say that this isn’t a big deal, because regardless of whether or not the study was manipulated, the idea of Natural Selection is sound.
However, it is a big deal. The Devil is in the details, so to speak. Little lies lead to big misconceptions. If they are willing to lie and manipulate data on something as basic to their theories as this, something provable already in many other areas of biology, how are we supposed to trust them to tell us the truth when it comes to big things, like the Fossil Record, the Evolution of Man, the Age of the Earth, etc.?
Again, I’m not a scientist. But I refuse to be force-fed something that I haven’t studied on my own.
This series is not designed to disprove Evolution nor is it an attempt to prove Creation. It is simply going to be an examination of unanswered questions and what we are told is “fact.”
What I find amazing is that most people I’ve met who believe in Evolution, believe in it because they’ve been told to, but cannot tell you why. Their best response is “Science says so.”
Unfortunately, many people approach Creation Science the exact same way. “I believe it because God said so.” And they think that’s all the ammunition they’ve got.
Ultimately, I want this series to at least encourage you to study things for yourself. Be fair, have an opened mind, live outside the box, and take a real honest look at what you believe.
Think for yourself.
Evolution will never go away, because if it did, the only other viable option is Creation. Creation means a Creator, God. God means sin, Heaven, Hell, morality, absolute right and wrong. That is why it is too big to fail. That is why is won’t fail. That’s why many won’t even consider the possibility that it is flawed. It’s a social, spiritual, and political necessity.
I don’t expect to change a lot of minds, nor do I intend to get into a debate with any reader here. I’m just going to be presenting ideas, discussing tough topics, and clearing up some Creationist misconceptions. What you choose to do with that information is up to you.
More to come.
